FASTag is an electronic system designed for toll collection which is operated by the NHAI. This is based on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, FASTag is fixed on the windscreen of vehicles. In simpler words, FASTags are prepaid rechargeable tag chips for toll collection. FASTags do not have any date of expiry, hence, their usage can be for as long as they are not tampered with and are readable at the toll plazas. What is the working of the FASTag system? In case of vehicles which have FASTag affixed and enabled on them, do not have to stop at toll gates as the amount of the toll taxes are easily deducted from the prepaid or bank account while the vehicle is moving.
